240 minutes to the clock announces the coming of a new year, and like we generically pronounce every year - where the hell has the year gone? But seriously. I know for myself, this year has been one weird rollercoaster ride where it’s been as though my soul has been detached to my body. But that’s not a bad thing at all. I hope to stay afloat till I accomplish my 2013 travel adventures then come back down to reality with determination and motivation hitting harder than ever before. So what are your new years resolutions? Good riddance to another year, and what an excuse to make new dreams and goals come true. Happy new year ya’ll!

Ps. I’m still amazed that these photos were captured and edited on my iPhone by my 12 year old brother from Christmas day. Who needs to carry around a large camera anymore?

GIDDY UP

Thanking the weather man for the perfect weather yesterday at the Caulfield races. Melbourne weather is so unpredictable, that we take this as the perfect excuse to get dressed up and head out. We were the biggest stress heads because we left shopping to the very last minute and so, so glad we did not run into anyone with the same dress. First world problems anyone?

How to cure a broken heart AKA puffy eyes fix.

They say eyes are the window to your soul. And what would those look like when you spent half of last night bawling your eyes out after a fight with your toy boy?

And didn’t I say I was gonna be back with a full post? HERE. I. AM.

This is 3M tape for dummies.

So, this could be a quick fix for those who woke up with puffy eyes or girls who wants double eyelids. Sounds weird? Nuh-uh. Unlike Yen and Belinda, I’m not blessed with those big eyes and double eyelids which I’m sure is the case with many Asians. And to those of you who are new to this, I DID NOT INVENT THIS TECHNIQUE. I’ve known some girls who tape their eyes everyday that they wake up one day and realized they did not have to anymore. BAM! Auto double lids!

So now, let’s:

To get started, here is what you will need

Brown eyeshadows (of different shades), liquid eyeliner, our push-in stick (you can use the base end of your tweezers for this), 3M tape, scissors

First, go through your normal eye makeup routine with a neutral colour brown eyeshadows. I always go with browns just because it helps with building dimensions and makes blending very easy. Anywho, I’m going to talk you through my simple routine.

To start off, I go over my lids with Canmake primer. Then go in with your lighter shade of brown eyeshadow over your lids. Closer to the lash line, blend in your dark brown eyeshadow.

Line your eyes with either gel or liquid eyeliner. Liquid works best for me as I find most liner product is able to smudge on my eyes no matter how much they cost unless they come in liquid liner form!

Now, it’s time to get your tape ready!

Cut the tape to the thickness of the lids you want. I usually go for approx 1.5mm so the tape doesn’t stick out too much. Shape the ends just like the shape below.

The tip is to avoid having sharp edges. As straight forward as it sounds, this will take time to master. Next step comes WHERE to put your tape. Most find it awkward to find a place to tape. For me, I tape just above my liner (see below).

Secure the tape by softly poking the tape, especially minding the edges. After, go over your lashes with mascara, do your brows and voila! WHAT PUFFY EYES?

About time ..

on yen:  top - ksubi, skirt- h&m

on bel: top-asos, skirt-witchery, backpack-unknown

Rocking up with near matching outfits was perhaps our way of welcoming the warmer days (this was unplanned, we swear!). So whilst neons, prints and pastels filled up the streets of Melbourne, we donned our new favourite leather pieces that we’re sure will follow us into the next season. All black. Too much colour hurts the eyes sometimes, no?
